Regional eco-efficiency of the agricultural sector in V4 regions, its dynamics in time and decomposition on the technological and pure technical eco-efficiency change

Research background: Agriculture plays a vital role in producing food to ensure security, but it is one of the biggest contributors environmental pollution. One main goals new CAP set higher ambitions for actions, which brings into front concept agricultural eco-efficiency. The notion eco-efficiency includes economic and also ecological dimensions sustainable agriculture.
 Purpose article: goal this paper evaluate production its dynamics during years 2013, 2015, 2017 NUTS 2 regions within Visegrad 4 (V4), i. e. Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland. part verify research hypothesis that all agriculture producers are eco-efficient.
 Methods: V4 regional sector expressed by Malmquist productivity index estimated using output-oriented Data envelopment analysis (DEA) model, under assumption constant return scale (CRS). decomposed technical change (EC) technological (TC). Based on eco-efficiency, pure change, classified three groups: most progressive regions, regressive regions.
 Findings & value added: CZ02: Central Bohemia, CZ04: Northwest, HU33: Dél-Alföld, HU31: Észak-Magyarország, HU32: Észak-Alföld, PL21: Malopolskie, PL41: Wielkopolskie, SK01: Bratislava region, SK02: Western Slovakia have an eco-effective sector, remaining eco-ineffective sector. not confirmed. During analyzed years, 19 improve their contributor improvement progress, indicates implement innovations lead more production.
